It is a new year and you want to start things off right by getting in shape. How do you accomplish this task? We all know that the two key components to getting in shape are to eat healthy and exercise. Here are additional tips that can help you get in shape and maintain your healthy lifestyle.

  • Set your goal and then break it down into mini-goals. It is much easier to have short term goals rather than one large goal. Having mini-goals keeps you on track without the overwhelming feeling of “I’m never going to get there.”


  • Take time to relax, especially on the weekends. Being motivated is great, but overdoing it will only impede your new, healthy goals. Allow yourself time to recuperate, rest, and relax. This will give your body time to heal and get your ready to start back Monday.


  • Eat at home. Not only does this save money, it saves you excess calories and fat. Plan menus at the beginning of the week that feature your favorite healthy meals. Stick with your menu and refrain from grabbing fast food  or to-go meals on a busy night.
