The environment is a hot topic right now, with the effects of global warming becoming apparent. What can you to change your carbon footprint (measure of the amount of greenhouse gases emitted because of one’s activities)? Taking small steps to reduce your carbon footprint can add up to big changes. Here are several small changes that you can make TODAY to have a greener lifestyle.

Calculate your carbon footprint here.

  1. Set your thermostat to 68. Throw on a jacket if you get cold.
  2. Recycle all that you can! Check out your city web site to see what they will recycle for you.
  3. Check your tires. Make sure they are inflated properly to give you the best fuel efficiency possible.
  4. Limit your water usage. Take shorter showers and only turn on the washing machine when it is full.
  5. Encourage your place of employment to adopt an earth-friendly attitude. Buy recycled paper, only print when necessary, and recycle old office equipment.
  6. Change your light bulbs. Make sure to use energy-efficient bulbs in your home (they cost more upfront than traditional bulbs, but will save you money in the long run since they last longer).

Once you have made these small changes, continue to promote a greener lifestyle. Here are several web sites with great, green ideas!
